I had been to South Korea before, visiting Seoul and Busan, but this was my first time in Jeju. It had been on my mind for a long time. In October 2026, I finally made the trip.
In Seogwipo, I stayed at Olle Stay and gave myself time to walk. My days included the market, the coast and local cultural spaces. Buses and walking were part of how I travelled through the island.
I like being able to move between different kinds of experience in the same journey. A hotel restaurant, a local meal, a museum and a stretch of coast each give me a different way to look at a destination.
Walking leaves room for the things I had not planned to notice.
The photographs I brought back include sunsets, dark shorelines and details from museums. They sit alongside food notes and observations about how people use places. Together, they make a more personal record than a list of sights alone.
Jeju is one recent chapter in my wider travel archive. I want to keep returning to the same questions across destinations: how do people live here, what do they value, and what does spending time here help me see?
